About us.

We began our little online venture as a work from home idea for my wife Jenny. With a busy household of three kids, a dog, a rabbit some budgies, fish at one point and various other pets here and there, working from home was the perfect way to balance her time.

In 2017 we began selling handmade rings on Facebook and eBay. In 2018 we learned about Etsy and it was then our little venture really took off. We still sell our rings on Etsy as well as our other website forthrings.co.uk (currently being worked on again ready for 2023).

In 2019 I bought a small desktop laser to engrave pens I occasionally make, I quickly realised the potential that a bigger machine could bring to the table. After extensive research we decided to go all in and purchase the bigger machines that we currently use in our workshop.

I have always loved creating things from wood and this seemed like the perfect "mad idea". (I've been full of "mad ideas" my whole life, finally one of them has worked).

I get to spend my days making these great products that I am passionate about and thoroughly enjoy making, I can hand on heart say there's not a day spent in my workshop (so far) that I've not enjoyed. As the saying goes, "If you enjoy your job, you'll never work a day in your life".

We live in a small-ish town called Bo'ness (Borrowstouness) on the banks of the River Forth, just up river a bit from the famous Forth Rail Bridge hence the names Forth Craft and Designs and Forth Rings (our other shop). For the most part it's a nice quiet little town (few nutters scattered about to keep things interesting but every town has them) and has been ideal place to raise our 3 girls. For being a relatively small town its packed with interesting historical facts and things to see and do. Its home to Bo'ness and Kinneil railway where Thomas the Tank shows up regularly, its home to the Hippodrome, Scotland's oldest cinema, the Roman Antonine wall and even the workshop where James Watt worked on developing the steam engine.

It's a former mining town which at one point had a busy river port and also hosts the world-famous Bo'ness children's fair.

We've been married since 2003 in our very early 20s (21-22) and have three girls, plus our wee spoilt rotten yorkie Bella.

We've had our fair share of dramas and bumps along the way as I'm sure all couples do, but we're both loving life at the moment. The two older girls are teenagers and the youngest is a "prenager" they've been a handful at times but on the whole, they are fairly well behaved and pretty decent little humans.

Between our two shops we have 1000s of happy customers (one or two impossible to please ones too). We put emphasis on customer satisfaction and are prepared to go the extra mile as many of our reviews will attest to. This website is the next step in establishing our brand and building a family business.

We hope you will find something that will brighten up your home or put a smile on someone’s face with a unique personalised gift.

Thank you for visiting our website, we are confident you’ll love our work and will come back time and again.
